Sixth Grade math is full of new content. We will begin with familiar skills such as dividing fractions, division, and decimal operations. Then we'll venture into the exciting new world of ratios and unit rate. We'll explore the new concept of rational numbers. Our biggest unit of study will be Expressions and Equations that contains a lot of pre-algebra skills. We'll continue our knowledge of Geometry by studying area, volume, and surface area. Finally, we'll wrap up the year with a fun unit on Statistics.
In Social Studies, we'll begin the year with map skills and historical research skills. Then we'll begin our study of ancient civilizations. Quarter 2 will be about Mesopotamia, Africa and Egypt. Quarter 3 will include India and Ancient China. The fourth quarter will be tons of fun as we learn about Ancient Greece and Rome.
